Know Days Off

How people can be so ridiculously… ridiculous absolutely blows my mind. I’m in the subway heading home and there’s a homeless guy who is hands down, with out a doubt, Clearly mentally ill and who’s yelling and making a scene on the platform. When the train comes, he gets on but continues carrying on. When some passengers try to get him off the train and call for assistance, he takes his stuff and jumps onto the tracks across the platform. At that point most people on the train gets up and people start calling for help, etc. Seems pretty positive, right? Right.

That is, of course, until you take into account those who I didn’t mention before. One man spent the duration of the incident yelling @ the conductor, saying “he’s a fucking bum, the problem’s on the other track, let’s go, I have places to go” etc. Sir, you’re a piece of shit & no one cares about your plans. In addition to that guy, there was an older man who was with his, I’d say… 11 year old daughter who, when the homeless man jumped on the tracks, immediately took out his cell phone and started recording it.

Seriously?

Forreal though?

You saw an extremely terrible, life threatening situation, and your first  thought was “Holy moly, I gotta catch this one on camera!” You sir are a piece of shit, and the example you were showing your kid— equally as bad.

Now, I’m not saying that everyone should’ve jumped in like a super hero, that would be completely unrealistic. What I am saying, though, is that some people can be so wrapped up in their own ignorance that they can’t see beyond themselves. Had our train left, he would’ve been left on the tracks until he either got off or got hit. If he had either been hit or been electrocuted, that man would’ve had his death immortalized in video. Not to mention that his young daughter would’ve been standing there watching the whole thing.

Please excuse the rant, but I said all of that to say, well more so to plead: Please, do better people.

Dr. King, you were a man with a vision and a plan. It’s much too unfortunate that your life was taken before you could see just how close we’re coming to taking your dream and making it our reality.
